A cutback bitumen is said to cure as the petroleum solvent evaporates. Cutback bitumen are typically used as prime coats and tack coats. Generally Cutback Bitumen are divided into three groups depending on their volatility of the solvent added:
Cutbacks are divided into three classification: Slow Curing (SC) SC-70 SC-250 SC-800 SC-3000, Medium Curing (MC) MC-30 MC-70 MC-250 MC-800 MC-3000, Rapid Curing (RC) RC-70 RC-250 RC-800 RC-3000.
Medium-Curing (MC) : MC cutbacks are prepared by solving bitumen in kerosene which evaporates more slowly than gasoline.
